A sworn translation isn't a nicer translation — it's a legally accountable one. When a Spanish authority, university, or registry asks for a "traducción jurada," they want a translation signed and sealed by a translator authorised to certify that it accurately reflects the original. That signature is what makes a birth certificate, a diploma or a criminal-record certificate valid for an official procedure — a visa appointment, a university enrolment, a marriage abroad, a residency renewal, a licence exchange. Frequently asked questions
What exactly is a "sworn" translation?
A sworn translation is signed and sealed by a translator, which certifies that the translation is a complete and accurate rendering of the original document. That signature and seal are what give it official standing before Spanish authorities.
Do I need the original document, or is a scan enough?
A clear scan or photo of the full document — including stamps, seals and the back page if it carries information — is enough for us to translate it. Some institutions ask to see the original alongside the sworn translation when you submit it; we’ll tell you if yours does.
Will this be accepted at my specific embassy or university?
